It was samba time Friday evening at the A1 Beach Pro Vienna 2024! Ágatha/Rebecca defeated Switzerland's Esmée/Zoé 2-0 (21-17, 21-11) and now go on to the semi-finals on Saturday.
The Brazilians were in top shape. Despite a slow start to their tournament, losing their first two pool games, Ágatha/Rebecca found their rhythm on Friday, scoring a round-of-12 victory in the morning before turning the pressure on for the Swiss.
Esmée/Zoé gave their opponents a tough fight but a Brazilian victory was never really in doubt as Ágatha/Rebecca won the first point and ran with it, never allowing the Swiss duo to bring the score level, let alone take the lead.
It was a treat for the fans who had defied the weather to return to the Red Bull Beach Arena after an hours-long play suspension. The rain even let up to allow the party to continue. Expect more samba in tomorrow’s semifinals!
